What is Rhythmic Gymnastics?

An exciting blend of ballet, jazz, and gymnastics! It is a perfect blend of art and sport. Besides offering fun and exciting activities for all ages, Rhythmic Gymnastics is an Olympic sport that involves a lot of hard work and dedication.

Participants in the beginner session will have the opportunity to work with all apparatus towards a PRISM skill pin. In the advanced session, participants will learn routines choreographed to music using ribbons, balls, hoops, scarves and skills from the previous session. Winter session participants will also have the opportunity to perform in the Chinook Rhythmique Gymnastics Club Spring Gala.

Our programs

Our recreation, pre-competitive and competitive programs are held at Talisman Centre (formerly Lindsay Park Sports Center) in Gym 4. Gym 4 has air-conditioned bright space with great ceiling height, and natural light. It's wonderful and it's quiet!

Our recreation program is a fun approach to expose a new gymnast to explore movement and music. Body technique, flexibility and apparatus skills with balls, hoops, ribbons and ropes will be introduced. Skill development is recognized through the PRISM Program. As the child learns she can earn the rainbow pin and the 6 other pins in this fun and rewarding program. Our Pre-competitive program for ages 3-8 focuses on body technique and learning apparatus skills. Depending on their age train 1-4 hours a week. They do not compete however there are opportunities for performances.

In our competitive program, we teach National level gymnasts 5-6 days / week and Provincial level gymnasts 3-5 days/week.

The path of excellence requires more than just the dedication of athletes and coaches. Volunteering from parents, past athletes, fans of the sport and financial support from sponsors are all key factors for our success.
