Chinook RG brings over 35 years of experience in developing rhythmic gymnastics excellence at every level. We are proud to be Calgary’s premier rhythmic gymnastics club and the only club in the city developing individual athletes at the national level. We are committed to delivering the highest quality of coaching available, combining strong technical expertise with a deep passion for the sport. Our dedicated team fosters an environment where each athlete is supported, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential.
Since 1991, our program has consistently produced medalists and champions at the provincial, regional, and national levels, earning multiple Provincial and Western Canadian Championship titles. Since 1992, we have also maintained consistent qualification to the Canadian National Championships and representation on the Canadian National Teams.
Based at the MNP Community & Sport Centre—our home since the beginning—we train in a nationally recognized facility that supports high-performance training and meets the unique demands of rhythmic gymnastics.
Rhythmic gymnastics is a unique Olympic sport that combines athletic skill, artistic expression, and musical performance. The first Olympic Games to feature rhythmic gymnastics were the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, where Lori Fung from Canada won the gold medal.
This sport blends elements of dance, jazz, acrobatics, and gymnastics with the use of apparatus such as ribbons, hoops, balls, clubs, and ropes. Performed to music, rhythmic gymnastics creates a beautiful display of grace, flexibility, coordination, and athleticism. Athletes combine precise movements with creativity and expression, making each routine both exciting and artistic to watch. Gymnasts also have the opportunity to compete individually or as part of a team, allowing them to develop both personal performance skills and teamwork.
At Chinook RG, we believe rhythmic gymnastics is more than just a sport. It teaches dedication, resilience, work ethic, personal confidence, and self-expression. Through training and performance, athletes earn more than just medals- they develop valuable life skills, lasting friendships, and a lifelong love of movement and artistry.
